Spray drying is the most widely used process in the liquid process forming and drying industry. It is most suitable for producing powdery and granular solid products from solutions, emulsions, suspensions and pasty liquid raw materials. Therefore, spray dryer technology is an ideal process when the particle size distribution, residual moisture content, bulk density and particle shape of the finished product must meet the latest standards.
We developed and produced plasma hemoglobin powder production line for a customer in Brazil. The key to the application of atomization and air distribution is in the spray drying process, because both greatly affect the final powder structure and quality. Typically, spray dryers are equipped with high-speed centrifugal atomizers to ensure robust and reliable operation. High pressure nozzle atomization is especially used for products where a rather coarse powder with a narrow particle size distribution and high bulk density is required. In nozzle atomizers, the fines surround one or more central nozzles for optimal agglomeration return. Two-fluid nozzle agglomeration is typically applied in the chamber allowing maximum flexibility in particle design and particle engineering for ultrafine and agglomerated particles.
This project has further improved and applied spray drying technology, allowing spray drying to enter more industries.
