In the food, chemical and other industries, single-stage spray dryers are a very common and flexible solution for drying products. The process converts liquid raw materials into dry, free-flowing powders by atomizing them into small droplets. The main methods of atomization are centrifugal rotating wheels or hydraulic high-pressure nozzles. The average particle size of the finished product is in the range of 25-100 microns.
The spray dryer is equipped with a proprietary hot air distributor to ensure good contact with the drying medium in the drying chamber. The liquid raw material is dried into fine powder in the drying chamber, and is discharged from the bottom of the cone or conveyed to the main separator (cyclone separator or dust filter) together with the discharged air. The drying configuration is primarily co-current but can be supplied in other configurations depending on the application. For heat-sensitive and difficult-to-dry products, integrated cooling for the chamber, furnace roof and hot gas distributor is available.
