What are the main structures of granulator

Aug 28, 2024

Granulators are machines used for the size reduction of materials like plastics, rubber, and other similar materials. Granulators have several structures that contribute to their effectiveness in achieving size reduction.

1. Hopper: The hopper is the topmost part of the granulator that receives the materials to be granulated. It serves inlet for the materials to be fed into the granulating chamber.

2. Rotor: The rotor is the rotating drum-like structure that holds the blades for cutting the materials. The rotor rotates at high-speed, and it is the heart of the granulator that slashes materials into small pieces as they pass through the cutting chamber.

3. Stator blades: These blades work in conjunction with the rotor blades to create a cutting or shearing force that reduces the material size progressively. They are stationary and reside the perimeter of the chamber, opposite the rotor blades.

4. Screen: The screen is the perforated structure that determines the size of the output material. Materials that pass through the screens and those that do not pass through the screens are further conjugated for rescrapping.

5. Motor: Granulators typically run on electric motors that power the rotor's rotation. The motor size and power are usually proportional to the size and capacity of the granulator.
